Areas of Interest
- I love the passion and personalities of middle school and high school students, and I am looking forward to working with secondary partners.
- I am comfortable working with any grade level. My teaching experience has been in grades 2-7. Last year I spent a good amount of time working with primary students.
- Content Areas - Coaching is more about pedagogy than content, and I am excited to learn the content you teach in order to better help you achieve your goals.
Beliefs and Philosophies
- I believe in student voice, student choice and project based learning.
- I believe in feedback rather than assessment, collaboration, rather than individual work, and using open source resources rather than traditional materials.
- I believe there's a need for a global audience, and publishing student work for real-world feedback is an important part of the learning process.
- I believe that the arts and creativity can work hand and hand with technology and that they are an important part of the school experience.
- I believe in educating the whole child, and I know that technology can assist in giving introverted students a opportunity to participate and interact in their learning environment and give students with special needs a more level playing field.
- I believe in the power of a professional learning network and teachers freely sharing resources and lessons.
- I believe that technology is a tool that can enhance all of the above, but that it shouldn't be used just for the sake of using it.
